1. Can I participate in the program if I have graduated from high school but have not applied to college / university yet?

Yes, you may participate. However, you cannot be entering college in the calendar year 2018. For example, if you are in the middle of a gap year, you cannot be attending college until January 1, 2019 or later to be eligible to participate.

2. Does my project have to be effective enough to eradicate the problem?

Your project should effectively address the problem in your community that you identify, but this does not mean your project has to completely solve the problem. You must think carefully about defining the scope of your problem (e.g. you can't solve national hunger, but you might be able to entice more kids to come to school in your neighborhood with a feeding program). For an already implemented program, while you do not have to show an incredible level of impact yet, you do have to show us that your project is feasible and has the potential of addressing the problem effectively.

3. There are several of us working on the same project. Can we apply as a group?

Yes, you may as apply as a group. However, please note that VTRAC can only cover the full costs of one student representative; additional students are welcome to apply, but they must cover their own airfare to Boston, MA.

4. What timezone is the deadline measured by?

The deadline is measured in Eastern Standard Time - all applications must be submitted by 11:59 pm EST on June 7, 2018.
